Who is the programme for ?
The program is aimed at those practising audio engineers/performers and musicians who wish to further their skills and knowledge in creative and technical aspects of music and music technology.
Entry to the programme ?
Potential students should ideally possess one of the following; a relevant BTEC National Diploma in Music Technology, Media, Performing Arts, Art and Design or Technology or appropriate A levels. The programme is also open to any mature students with an advanced understanding and experience of practical and technical fields. Selection is through tape presentation, interview and a short written test.
When will the programme start and how long will it take ?
The programme will start in September.
What will I study?
Students will study compulsory modules in the following
Introductory Studies
Music Theory and Practice
Technical Studies 1
Studio Workshop
Contextual Studies
Micro Electronics
Integrated Projects
Digital Synthesis and Processing
Business Studies
These will broadly cover aspects of music production and performance with the provision for specialisation in one of the optional modules.
How is it assessed ?
The programme is modular in structure and is designed to achieve a progressive and flexible development for the student towards professional skills and attitudes. You will produce a portfolio of work through a series of assignments which will be assessed continuously throughout the course as well as your performances in studio and live assignments. These are designed to cover a range of group and individual activities across a variety of practical and theoretical work.
Future prospects ?
Continuation onto HND and Degree programmes is expected as an academic progression. The provision of work placements within production and performance music fields is anticipated as a foothold into industrial experience/employment.
