My name is Andrew Halliwell. I've been DJ'ing for about three years and I've had m.i.d.i. gear for about 1 ½ years but I have only started to produce serious complete tracks within the past 6 months. My confidence in the studio environment is increasing as are the competence of my tracks.
The music I produce is aimed solely at the dance-floor. I have no commercial aspirations, dreams of t.o.t.p. etc.
To be completely satisfied with my productions they need to have hard, driving beats and must have a rather large floor friendly break down. I am incorporating more and more vocals in my compositions and hope to produce a pumping N.Y. style garage track soon.
I listen to all types of "dance" music but at heart I love American house music. People like Deep Dish, Danny Tennaglia, Cevin Fisher although not as cutting edge as say drum "n" bass they do produce awesome tracks that get hammered at every house club up and down the country.
Without a doubt anyone signed to the fabulous Twisted record label. Producers like Murk, Club 69, Danny Tennaglia all producing quality American house.
Daft Punk are also guys who can throw quality tracks together and with such diversity.
As long as people get excited when they here their favourite track been played in their favourite club, then there will always be that breeding ground for tracks to get played and for producers to build up their reputations within the club scene by releasing 12 inches and then going on to release albums or to remix other artists.
Although I respect big name DJ's for how far they've gone and got themselves I do strongly believe that they charge far, far too much money. As there is only a certain amount of money within the club scene if they carry on taking and taking the pot will dry out.
